As promised in my November newsletter, here’s an entire post dedicated to Mexico City: my most recent travel destination and one of my new favorite cities.

I’m by no means a Mexico City expert — I’ve only been once, I know very little Spanish and ultimately, I’m just a gringa — but I did do a lot of research when planning this trip with Claire (my girlfriend, if you’re new here!). This iteration of Lindsay’s List breaks down every single thing I did in Mexico City, from shopping and museums to excursions and meals.

A few things to keep in mind as you read:

  • I don’t really budget when I travel. This isn’t a good thing, but I want to be honest! But I will say, I didn’t mess up my finances in any way from doing all of the below, and things in Mexico City were significantly less expensive than NYC.

  • As mentioned in my last post, I used credit card points to pay for my flight and had a $100 Airbnb credit, which really reduced the cost of this trip for me.

  • I thrive on trips with a packed itinerary. That doesn’t mean you will! Please keep this in mind if you use this as a guide to your own Mexico City trip.

  • I utilized a lot of fellow Substacker Alison Wu’s Mexico City travel guides, which I paid $8 (a monthly subscription to her Substack) to access. Alison has lived in Mexico City for a few years and her guides were an integral part of my planning process. This is the best $8 I’ve spent in a while.

  • My favorite places are noted with a * and my favorites of the favorites are noted with **. Places marked as ** are places/experiences that I’d recommend the most. I also bolded my favorite dishes at any food place I liked.

And without further ado, here’s a day-by-day list of every single thing I did in Mexico City:

Day 1

My favorite bakery of the year, the best samosas I've ever had, Día de Los Muertos decorations and a bustling flower market.
